The team at McKinney New York reached out to me to help illustrate and design a custom backdrop for the Samsung Galaxy booth they were creating at the 2015 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California. This awesome booth acted as a place for event-goers to relax, charge their phones, meet some pro surfers and skaters and try out the new Galaxy S6 and the Samsung's new virtual reality device powered by the Galaxy S6 phone. Together with the team at McKinney, we decided to go with a fun and vintage aesthetic that incorporated vintage beach signage, classic surf posters, and some stylized illustrations of the different Samsung products. The mural design features lots of custom lettering, typography and illustration. The backdrop functioned as the perfect backdrop for selfies and a step-and-repeat for interviews with the professional athletes.
